Welcome To Tolleson Window Tinting!

So, just to clear the air a bit, it's time for you to admit that you want your vehicle's windows tinted because it looks amazing. We can't blame you, and we couldn't agree more. There's just something about cars, trucks, and anything else operated on the road, that makes them look so much more attractive, more aggressive and sleeker with tinted windows. Window tint just gives your vehicle a little bit of edginess, and a little bit of attitude, but most importantly, it helps protect your vehicle from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. If you took two identical vehicles side-by-side...same manufacturer, same model, same sub-model, same wheels, same color, same options, etc. and then tinted the auto glass windows on one of the cars and not the other, which one would be more attractive? Yes, that's a rhetorical question; hands down, the one with tint would get just about everyone's vote. Obviously you agree, or you wouldn't have read this far on our homepage. You are clearly in pursuit of improving both the longevity and the overall appearance of your vehicle. You've come to the right place.

Our vehicles are oftentimes our second-largest investment behind our place of residence, and so it makes sense that if there were a way to help ensure our vehicles stay nicer for a longer period of time, we wouldn't think twice about it. Window tinting also accomplishes that feat. By blocking out a portion of the sun's harmful rays and subsequent associated heat, window tint helps reduce interior temperatures, and it also reduces the amount of sun exposure on the more delicate parts of our vehicles such as the dash, seats, console, door panels, and more. This reduced heat/sun exposure ultimately prevents, or at the very least, delays the excessive deterioration of these more delicate materials thus keeping our vehicles looking nicer, longer. Exterior parts of vehicles are made to withstand the elements, or at least to be resistant to them. The interior, however, is another story. Your vehicle's interior is designed to be user-friendly, comfortable, appealing to the eye, and functional. This is the exact reason why having your windows tinted is a no-brainer. Not to mention, in our society today, we spend an ever-increasing amount of time in our vehicles. Nobody would knowingly choose to drive a vehicle anywhere if the interior was sun-bleached, dry-rotted, and/or had cracks all over it unless they had no other option. Fortunately there is an option and it's a reasonable one at that--window tint.

How Much Is Window Tinting?

That's a tough question to answer. Unfortunately, cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all solution regarding the pricing of window tinting. We truly wish it were that simple; it would save us a lot of time. However, there are several variables, which must be considered, that can affect the price.

The most significant determinant when it comes to the cost of window tinting is the size and number of windows needing tint. More windows or larger windows will obviously require more materials and typically more time as well, thus resulting in a higher cost.

The quality of the tint film material used is another determining factor. Tint film is manufactured by several different companies, each of which has several different product lines within their product catalogs. We recommend and insist on using only the highest quality tint films available. We have learned throughout the years that just settling for an inferior product, especially in our Arizona heat, is a recipe for disaster and added expense down the line. We oftentimes have temperature fluctuations close to 100 degrees of variance throughout the year, so in our opinion, it's not even an option to skimp on material quality just to save a few bucks now. A low-quality tint film is simply incapable of handling our temperature extremes and will start to deteriorate in short order. With window tint, as with most things, you typically get what you pay for.  In a geographical region like Arizona, we understand the importance of never settling by  compromising on material quality.

Does Window Tint Come With A Warranty?

The short answer is "yes" it does, IF, and only if, it comes from a reputable, high-quality manufacturer and is installed by a knowledgeable, experienced company.
Additionally, the installer typically will have to be an authorized dealer/installer of the product for the warranty to be valid. It goes without saying that any company that offers a warranty on their products stands behind them wholeheartedly--they are clearly confident in their products, which is why you should source tint with a good warranty. Don't settle for inexpensive garbage tint film that will start disintegrating within a matter of months. Tint should be viewed as an investment. Who doesn't want a product that lasts years versus something that lasts mere months? In this industry, you almost always get what you pay for. Spend a little bit more for quality now, and it will save you headaches, frustration, money and disappointment later.

How Dark Can My Window Tint Be Legally?

Tint laws vary from state to state, so it's important to do a little bit of research prior to having it done.  Here, in Arizona, we are very fortunate, probably due mostly to the temperature extremes we face, the laws governing window tint are fairly relaxed. However, in states like California, for example, they are considerably more strict when it comes to what vehicle window tint is allowed and what isn't. In Arizona, current law allows vehicle owners to go as dark as 35% on their vehicle's front side windows, and up to 5% on their rear passenger door window and rear window glass, however colored tint is not permissible. A small tint strip on the front windshield can be legally installed, and does help in certain sunny situations, if desired. If you do decide to tint your windshield, be sure that there are no chips or cracks prior to install, otherwise you'll incur the additional expense for glass repair or auto glass replacement and new tint.

If an officer pulls you over because he/she believes your front windows are tinted too dark, they can issue you a citation requiring you to correct the infraction and/or pay a fine of $250 or more. Police officers typically don't do this just by visually inspecting; most officers have at their disposal a tool, known as a tint meter, which accurately measures tint percentage by gauging how much light is able to pass through the tint. If you are exceed that legal threshold set forth, then a citation, known as an Equipment Repair Order, may be issued. It then becomes the vehicle owner's responsibility to  remove the illegal tint, have it removed and/or replace it with tint that falls within the legal limits, or leave the windows without tint. Most reputable tint shops will replace the tint for free if they knowingly installed tint that did not comply with local laws. This is exactly why it is important to choose a reputable shop. Reputable shops will install your tint exactly as you request it (provided it's within the legal limits) the first time, and use quality tint film material, so you don't have to deal with it ever again.

Are There Different Types Of Window Tint?

As mentioned up above, there are varying degrees of quality when it comes to window tint film and workmanship required for a good, clean installation. In addition to quality variances, there are also varietal variances.

The best, and most expensive, type of window tint available is ceramic. Ceramic tint is hands-down the best quality tint film money can buy. Unlike other film materials, it does not contain any metals or dyes. Instead, this tint material is comprised non-metallic, non-conductive ceramic particles. This is important for a couple reasons: ceramic tint does have any negative impact on the signals of GPS devices, cell phones, or handheld radios like some other tint materials do. Interestingly enough, a newer version of ceramic tint has recently shown up on the scene--ceramic-carbon. This tint film is a hybrid version of both ceramic and carbon materials. When utilized together, these two materials add some substantial benefits such as helping to stabilize the color of the tint, increasing the tint's durability and longevity, rejecting heat and providing amazing visibility qualities.

On the opposite end of the spectrum is something known as dyed tint. Dyed tint requires no special technology in its development. It is simply a tint film containing dye that has been impregnated in between the adhesive layer and the film itself. Due to the lower tint material quality, the sun's rays, especially here in Arizona, will quickly degrade and fade this tint film. Dyed tint is inexpensive due to it's simplistic manufacturing process involving little to no advanced technology or specialized materials to improve its performance. As a result, due to it's lower quality and durability, poor functionality, and common bubbling problems, this type of window tint film needs to be replaced considerably more often than do the higher-end materials.

Carbon is yet another material used as a stand-alone or, as mentioned above, can be used in conjunction with other materials in some window tint. Carbon window tint film contains carbon particles that are extremely efficient at blocking infrared light, subsequently helping to ensure that the vehicle's interior remains cooler. It does not fade quickly and seeing as though it does not contain any metal, there is no negative impact on any transmitting devices. The only real negative associated with carbon film is that it sometimes tends to create more glare or haze than some of the other tint film materials, making it difficult to see outside your vehicle. This is most likely the reasoning behind why tint manufacturers have pioneered new advanced technologies incorporating the use of other materials in conjunction with carbon; to eliminate this single problem while simultaneously letting all of the positive attributes of the carbon shine through.
